Professional Background
Lisa VanHoose, PhD, PT, CLT-LANA, WCC, has practiced physical therapy since 1996. Dr. VanHoose is board-certified in wound care and lymphedema and her teaching responsibilities include physical therapy interventions I and II in the
DPT program. In addition, Dr. VanHoose serves as a staff physical therapist for services in the
Silver City Health Clinic.
Academic Background
Dr. VanHoose began her academic career at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, Ark. After earning a Bachelor of Science in health science, she continued on at Central Arkansas to earn a Master of Science in Physical Therapy. Before enrolling in the PhD in Rehabilitation Science program at KU Medical Center, Dr. VanHoose served as a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Central Arkansas and a clinical instructor at Stanford Brown in Kansas City, Mo. While in the doctoral program, she was mentored by Dr. Irina Smirnova in the Diabetes Research Laboratory.
Research Focus
Dr. VanHoose is currently engaged in research focused on the effects of exercise on diabetic heart disease with an emphasis on the lymphatic system.
